We organised a successful day visit to our first two Ravenmeols Heritage Trails last Sunday 13th September under the auspices of 'Heritage Open Day'.
This was helped by beautiful weather. The morning Trail was specifically to highlight the story (and visible reminders) of the proposed resort of 'Formby-by-the-Sea'. This (and a peep at the remains of the promenade) was a suprise to many visitors.
The afternoon trail was lead by Phil Smith and Rachel Northover and looked at reminders of WW2 and the 'Cold War' as well as the unique 'Devil's Hole', with its fascinating wild-life.
If you missed out on this fascinating event then there is trails leaflet available (pdf) by clicking here
A well designed (and researched!) leaflet on the trails is now at proof stage and will very soon be available through Formby Civic Society and Sefton Coast & Countryside. A third Trail extending to Cabin Hill NNR will be added at a later stage
