CIVIC DAY Saturday 20th June 2015

As part of the National ‘Civic Day’ on Saturday 20th June, Formby Civic Society started the day in Chapel Lane, Formby and members were available to outline some of the work that is currently being undertaken by the Society and its continuing involvement with the community in different ways. Anyone carrying out any research on the history of Formby or their family history will be aware of the wealth of information and range of old photographs and sketches available on the FCS website.  The Civic Society is forward-looking and with a positive approach to both supporting conservation and protecting Formby’s environment and heritage. The stall displayed examples of the work that is done and a visual display of what is available to local people - unfortunately due to heavy rain the display was curtailed earlier then planned

Civic Day 2014

"Our Civic Day event on 21st June was a presentation 'A Sense of Place' arranged at the invitation of Formby Parish Council as a contribution to our joint working on the proposed  Neighbourhood Plan at Formby 'Gild Hall'. It was transferred to the Formby Library as a 'stand-alone' presentation but unfortunately is no longer on display. The display was based on our archives collected over 60 years" and has attracted much interest.

Additional meetings may be arranged as afternoon sessions and topics may change due to unforeseen circumstances however, the latest news page should show any changes.
