A  WWI Walk through Formby, based upon evidence from the recent FCS book, “A Community in Wartime: Formby 1914-1918”.

We will meet at the War Memorial in Chapel Lane at 11 a.m. and walk around Formby via St. Peter’s Church, where we will be able to take a rest and have a cuppa and possibly our own lunch.   Also, it would be possible to do just one half of the walk if it suits anyone better, either leaving at St. Peter’s or starting from there. The walk will take about 2 hours there and back in total, but with the break for refreshments added in.

It will be led by Tony Pawson, John Phillips and Joan Rimmer.

Thursday August 15th

‘Monuments to Slavery – or not?’ : a walk in Liverpool led by Peter Griffin.  Meet at the front forecourt of Moorfields Station at 1.30 p.m.  We will then walk down Water Street and end at the Liver Building. We will look at a number of buildings on the route and ask whether the designs, carvings or motifs on each can be attributable to the slave trade – or not!I

It is a short and easy walk and we will have the opportunity to have some refreshments together at the end.
