The true story behind Viking Voices - The Cuerdale Hoard

Paul Atherton will describe his research behind his novel, “Viking Voices”, a story based upon the Cuerdale Hoard on the River Ribble and the movement of Vikings about the Irish Sea. The Cuerdale Hoard contains over 8,600 items, ncluding silver coins, jewellery, hacksilver and ingots. It was discovered on 15 May 1840 on the southern bank of a bend of the River Ribble, in an area called Cuerdale near Preston. It is one of the largest Viking silver hoards ever found.
